Program Information

Welcome to and thank you for visiting the Official Goalies Against Cancer website. Here you will find all the information you need to participate in this project and join the fight against breast cancer. Our goal is to raise money to be donated to aid in the fight against breast cancer through hockey. 100% of all money raised will be donated to Passionately Pink for the Cure®, which goes to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure® foundation.

During the entire month of October (Breast Cancer Awareness Month), Goalies Joey and Brandon Maestas will be wearing pink hockey jerseys as well as using pink hockey sticks with the blades taped in pink hockey tape. The sticks and jerseys will be used in all of the games they participate in. For every save made using the sticks, a puck mark will be left. At the end of October, the marks on both sticks will be tallied. During the month, participants in this project can pledge a small (or large) monetary amount for each mark that is left on the sticks. (For example, if 100 marks are tallied at the end of October combined, and you pledged 10 cents per mark, your total pledge would be $10.00.) You can also choose to pledge a lump sum.

All pledges must be received by November 15th. During the month, the website will continuously be updated with a tally of puck marks as well as a running total of money raised. Please check the website for any additional information you may need, and for updates.

Disclaimer: The number of puck marks that will be collected is very difficult to determine in advance as there is no reliable way to predict this. On average we each face anywhere from 10 to 30+ shots per game, many of those hit our sticks. We expect to play 20+ games combined during the month.
